Furong Town, formerly known as Wangcun, is about 50 kilometers from Yongshun County and has a history of over 2,000 years. With the filming of the movie “Furong Town”, directed by Xie Jin and starring Liu Xiaoqing and Jiang Wen, the town became famous and was renamed to Furong Town. The town is often described as an ancient town built around a waterfall setting. The center of the ancient village is built atop a tall rock from which drops a majestic waterfall tens of meters to the foot of the town. The Tujia shacks in the town are all located quite close to the waterfall.

With HalalChinaTrips, your visit can be planned around your group’s comfort, halal dining needs and travel schedule instead of only following a standard sightseeing route.

Is Furong Ancient Town Suitable for Muslim Travelers?

Yes. Furong Ancient Town can be suitable for Muslim travelers, especially for families, couples and small groups who enjoy old-town scenery, culture, photography and a relaxed evening visit.

Scenic Old Town

Traditional streets, riverside views, cliffside houses and waterfall scenery make Furong Ancient Town a strong cultural stop in Xiangxi.

Good for Families

The visit can be arranged at a slower pace with rest time, photo stops and private transfer support for families or elderly travelers.

Food Needs Planning

Halal dining should be checked before arrival. We can provide nearby halal restaurant options and adjust the route around your chosen meal plan.

Why Planning Can Be Confusing

Furong Ancient Town looks simple on the map, but planning it well can be confusing for first-time international visitors. The town is often combined with Fenghuang Ancient Town, Zhangjiajie, or other Xiangxi attractions, so route order and transfer time matter.

Some travelers arrive too late and miss the best walking time. Others stay too long without knowing where to eat, rest or continue the next day.

We help you avoid a rushed visit by matching the Furong Ancient Town schedule with your full Zhangjiajie–Xiangxi itinerary.

Route Timing

We help decide whether Furong Ancient Town should be a half-day stop, evening visit or overnight stay based on your full route.

Transfer Planning

Private car support can reduce stress, especially if you travel from Zhangjiajie, Fenghuang, or nearby Xiangxi destinations.

Food Coordination

We can check halal restaurant options in advance and plan sightseeing before or after your selected meal location.

Night View Choice

Furong Ancient Town is especially beautiful at night. We help decide whether the night view is worth adding to your itinerary.

Choose a Furong Ancient Town Route

Furong Ancient Town can be visited in different ways depending on your schedule, travel pace and whether your group wants to focus on scenery, culture or photography.

Half-Day Waterfall Visit

  • Half Day
  • Best for travelers with limited time
  • Muslim-Friendly Note:Arrange meals before or after the visit if halal-certified food options are uncertain.

Focus on the waterfall, old streets and key photo spots. This works well if Furong Town is a stop between larger destinations.

Evening and Night View Visit

  • Afternoon–Evening
  • Best for photography and atmosphere
  • Muslim-Friendly Note:Dinner, prayer timing and return transport should be planned before the evening visit.

Arrive in the afternoon, explore the old town and waterfall area, then stay for the night view before returning or checking into a nearby hotel.

Zhangjiajie + Furong + Fenghuang Route

  • 4–6 Days Combined Trip
  • Best for travelers combining mountains and ancient towns
  • Muslim-Friendly Note:Food, prayer timing, luggage and transfers should be planned carefully when connecting multiple destinations.

Use Furong Town as a scenic cultural stop between Zhangjiajie mountain routes and Fenghuang Ancient Town.
