- Recommended sightseeing time: 3–5 hours

The starting point of the Xiangxi Mengdong River rafting is “Hani Palace”, about 40 kilometers away from Wangcun (Furong Town), and the end point is Niulu River. The rafting waterway is 11.37 kilometers long. From Hani Palace, take a rubber boat downstream, passing Shanjiaoyan, Jilongmen, Nietu Waterfall, Huishou Gorge, Luoshuikeng Waterfall, Mengsi Gorge, etc. to the end point Niulu River Bridge Reception Station. The whole way is an ancient river channel with rugged rocks on both sides of the river and lush forests on both sides. In addition to the thrill, it makes people indulge in the scenery of nature.
The starting point of the rafting is Hani Palace, where the river water is quiet and the rocky cliffs on both sides are rugged. There is a small waterfall in front, which is the Hani Palace Waterfall. The Niulu River Bridge is the end point of the rafting and also a comprehensive service area. After rafting, tourists can go ashore here and take a bus back to the starting point.
Unlike a normal sightseeing stop, Mengdong River is activity-based. Travelers may get wet, spend several hours on the route, and need to prepare clothing, food timing and return transport carefully.
Muslim-Friendly Travel Notes
Is Mengdong River Drifting Suitable?
Mengdong River Drifting can be suitable for Muslim travelers who enjoy river scenery, outdoor activities and a more adventurous Xiangxi route. It is especially suitable for groups who want to experience nature beyond ancient towns, villages and standard sightseeing attractions.
However, it is not suitable for every group. Rafting may involve getting wet, wearing life jackets, changing clothes, keeping valuables dry, and following local safety arrangements. Families with young children, elderly travelers, guests who prefer dry sightseeing or conservative travelers who are uncomfortable with water activities should review the route carefully.
For Muslim travelers, the attraction should be planned as a full experience, including food, prayer timing, clothing, transport, weather, ticket booking and group comfort.

Rafting Comfort and Clothing Notes

For conservative families, elderly travelers or guests who prefer not to get wet, Mengdong River should be compared with softer Xiangxi attractions such as Furong Ancient Town, Laosicheng Village or Red Stone Forest National Geological Park before confirmation.
