Most Zhangjiajie scenic tickets must be booked through Chinese platforms that require WeChat Pay or Alipay. Booking is real-name, and gates use face recognition tied to your passport photo. Foreign travelers who do not have a Chinese payment method have three practical options: book through an international platform like Trip.com, ask your hotel front desk in Wulingyuan, or include tickets in a planned trip through a travel team that handles the Chinese side.
What Tickets You Need
Zhangjiajie has several separate scenic areas, each with its own ticket system. The main ones:
| Scenic Area | Ticket | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| National Forest Park | ¥236 joint / ¥165 single | Joint ticket includes shuttle buses, valid 4 consecutive days |
| Cable cars & elevator inside NFP | ¥65–¥76 one way | Bailong Elevator ¥65, Tianzi cable car ¥72, Yangjiajie cable car ¥76 |
| Tianmen Mountain | Separate system | Route A or B, includes cable car; book by date and time slot |
| Grand Canyon Glass Bridge | Separate ticket | Time-slot booking required |
| 72 Wonder Tower | ¥48 day / ¥88 night | Night ticket includes light show after 19:00 |
For a full breakdown of Forest Park ticket types, discount rules and gate hours, see the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park ticket policy.
Why Booking Is Harder for Foreign Travelers
Four issues come up repeatedly:
- Language. Official booking platforms (hnzjj.com, WeChat mini programs) are in Chinese. Ticket types, time slots and gate names are not translated.
- Payment. These platforms accept WeChat Pay or Alipay. Both require a Chinese bank account or a compatible foreign card — most international Visa and Mastercard cards do not work directly.
- Real-name booking. Every ticket is tied to a passport number. The name and document number must match exactly what you carry at the gate.
- Face recognition. Park gates scan your face against the photo linked to your booking. If the match fails, staff verify your passport manually, which can mean a queue.
Three Ways to Get Your Tickets
1. Book Through Trip.com or Ctrip International
Trip.com (the international version of Ctrip) sells tickets for most Zhangjiajie scenic areas and accepts foreign credit cards. Availability may be limited during peak holidays (May 1–5, October 1–7, summer school breaks). Check a few days before your visit.
2. Ask Your Hotel Front Desk
Many hotels in Wulingyuan help guests book scenic tickets. You give them your passport details, they book through the Chinese system, and you pay the hotel. Arrive at least one day before your park visit so the hotel has time to process the booking.
3. Include Tickets in a Planned Trip
A local travel team handles booking in Chinese, picks the right gate and time slot for your itinerary, and bundles tickets with transport and food planning. This is the option most foreign visitors end up choosing when they visit multiple scenic areas over several days.
HalalChinaTrips is based in Zhangjiajie. We include scenic tickets as part of trip planning — no separate booking process, no payment workaround needed. Our Zhangjiajie + Fenghuang 5-day trip from USD 348 per person covers all scenic tickets, transport, English-speaking guide and halal meal planning.
What to Prepare Before Booking
- Passport — the name on the booking must match your passport exactly. Carry the original; copies are not accepted at the gate.
- Travel dates — Forest Park tickets are valid for 4 consecutive days from the date you choose. Pick the first day you plan to enter.
- Gate choice — the park has five entrance gates. You must enter through the gate you selected when booking. Wulingyuan Gate (East) is the most common starting point.
- Time slot — all gates operate 7:30–17:00. Arrive early to avoid queues, especially in summer.
- Group discounts — children under 14 enter free (entry and shuttle bus), ages 14–17 pay half price, seniors 65+ enter free (entry only, shuttle bus at reduced rate). Cable cars and the elevator are always separate.
Food and Prayer Planning Around Park Days
There is no halal food inside any Zhangjiajie scenic area. Plan meals in Wulingyuan town before entering the park or bring packed food. For a full restaurant list, see halal food in Zhangjiajie.
There is no mosque open to visitors in Zhangjiajie or the surrounding area. Most travelers pray in their hotel room, in the tour vehicle during rest stops, or at a quiet spot inside the park. If prayer times are important to your schedule, let us know when planning your trip so we can build the itinerary around them.
